Timothy L. Cornelison, 47, of Memphis died Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and with full knowledge that he was loved and wanted.
He was born the son of Clifford Duane and Dorothy Elaine (Shrake) Cornelison on January 14, 1967 in Unionville, MO.
Tim saw something to admire in the world wherever he found himself. He lived in several different regions of the United States, from Nebraska to Pennsylvania, but he grew up in Graysville and always considered Putnam County his true home. He especially loved the Missouri waters of Lake Thunderhead and Lake of the Ozarks.
Tim attended Putnam County schools until his sophomore year when he moved to Nebraska, where he developed his natural talent in Golden Gloves Boxing. Tim’s dad taught the sport to all his sons, indicating the most important aspect was learning to ease the blow when an opponent struck. Tim was extremely quick and efficient at this, and he carried this advice with him as a life lesson into adulthood.
Tim worked hard at whatever job he had the good fortune of performing. He was a compassionate health care worker and strong physical laborer. He loved to be of service, whether to his employer, his family or his friends. He was fascinated by science and nature, and he celebrated the latter through photography which he eagerly shared with those he loved. Poetry also provided great enjoyment for Tim, especially some lesser known works of Edgar Allen Poe, but including the well-known Annabel Lee whose lines “we loved with a love that was more than a love” held special significance for him.
On January 3rd, 2014, in a Celtic ceremony officiated by Pastor Bruce Silver, he married his “beloved O’Grady”, Ms. Glen Duncan, formerly of Lucerne.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Nellie Cornelison, and his parents, Duane and Dorothy Cornelison.
He is survived by his siblings, Elaine of Independence, Mo., Alan of Kirksville, Eddy of Minnesota, Eric of South Dakota and Laura of Memphis; children, Paige and Trent, both of Kirksville; a grandson, Demetri; several nieces and nephews, and cousins he loved as friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Pat Cook, his sister-in-law, at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 25, at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
