Carl William Farris, 74, of LaBelle, MO, formerly of Scotland and Schuyler counties, passed away April 4, 2016, in LaBelle Manor Care Center, surrounded by loved ones.
Carl was born October 11, 1941, in Greensburg, MO, the son of Sterling Eugene and Eva Neese Farris. He married Mona Roselee Groseclose on October 7, 1961, who preceded him in death in May 2015. To this union five children were born: Corenna Jones and (Troy) of Baring, MO, Carla Lockwood and (Phillip) of Baring, MO, Carl D. Farris of Downing, MO, Colette Merrell and (Steve) of Canton, MO, and Colleen Klingsmith and (Cecil) of Unionville, MO. All survive.
Carl attended school in Rutledge, Baring and Bible Grove, MO. He enjoyed playing basketball while in high school. He drove a semi-truck for many years for Donk Hathaway, and then became a farm hand for Don Newcomb and Bill Ashmoore until retiring.
He is survived by his brother, John Eugene Farris and (Noreen) of Edina, MO, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife and grandsons Lyle William Lehr and Francis Jim Farris; and great grandson Lathen M. Yoakum.
A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Fritz Gerth officiating.
A special service was held on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at the Bible Grove Preservation Historical Society.
