{Mar. 13, 1932 - Mar. 3, 2025}

Hazel Anne (Frederick) Unglesbee, 92, of Burlington, IA passed away on March 3, 2025 at her home.

She was born on March 13, 1932 in Scotland County, the 8th of 12 children, to Erastus Dorwin and Elsie Jane (Smith) Frederick.

Hazel was a member of the First Christian Church. She attended Scotland County and Bible Grove schools. She lived in Bible Grove, Memphis and Burlington.

She was united in marriage in 1950 to George Edward Ingersoll in Kahoka. After George’s service in the Army, they moved to Burlington in 1954, where they later opened Ingersoll Shoe Service. To this union five children were born. He preceded her in death in 1970.

She married Alvin Eugene (Buck) Unglesbee in Burlington, IA in 1972. After retirement they moved back to Memphis where they enjoyed many hobbies. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Hazel always had a hot cup of coffee for anybody that came to visit. She enjoyed passing on the knowledge of cooking, gardening, painting, sewing, flowers and birds with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved traveling and visited all but one state, Hawaii, and many European countries. She collected rocks from all of her travels. She loved her rocks as well as her other collections (cardinals, snow babies, elephants, dolls and many other collections). She would sit with her grandkids pointing out different ones from each collection, telling stories. Even though she was never a beautician, she would cut and curl the entire extended family’s hair up until she couldn’t anymore. She was full of life and loved to dance. She even traveled with a square dance troupe that took her to 7 European countries. She loved her family greatly and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; brothers: Henry, Roscoe, Dean, John, Kent, and Victor Frederick sisters: Helen Dickerson, Betty Wright, Ruby Wright, and Sarah Jane Frederick; and two sons in law, Tim McAllister and David Hall.

She is survived by children: Rose Anne Smalley, Evelyn Sue (Dominic) Seminara, Cindy Elizabeth McAllister, George Edward (Jane) Ingersoll, and Tina Marie Hall; brother, George (Sharon) Frederick; sisters-in-law, Ramona Frederick and Carla Pullman; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Per Hazel’s wishes there will be no service. She did not want to be remembered in sadness but for us to celebrate her life with memories from all the time we spent together.
