Wilma June Garrett, 89, of Downing died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
She was born the daughter of William Newton and Edith Elnora “Nellie” (McDaniel) Dalton on November 4, 1922 in Scotland County, MO.
Wilma married Herbert Glen Garrett on November 16, 1939. He preceded her in death.
To this union, five children – Glen, Lloyd, Carol, Nancy and Lyle – were born.
Wilma was a life-long resident of Scotland and Schuyler Counties. She devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her husband. Wilma loved to quilt, cook and make noodles for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husband, her son Glen, and a son-in-law, Charles Seamster.
She is survived by her children, Loyd and wife Maxine Garrett of Camdenton, MO, Carol Seamster of Downing, Nancy Bishop of Memphis, and Lyle and wife Lana Garrett of Harrisburg, MO; daughter-in-law, Barbara Garrett of Moberly; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Irene Dalton of Memphis and a special friend, Ann Alexander of Downing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 16 at the Memphis chapel with Wilma’s niece, Karyon Elsea officiating. Burial will be in the Campground Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m., prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
